Santa Coats and Tree

So, as the title says, I did little Santa coats and dotted Christmas tree for an accent nail. I added a little star gem at the top of the tree. I used three different colour greens and three different sized dotting tools to create the tree.
The star gems were from Cheeky. I used Avon's French White Tip for the base colour on all the nails. For the Christmas tree accent nail, I used Avon's Noir Emerald, Garden Green and Nail Treats Emerald Green. The Santa coats were done using Avon's Ruby Slipper, Licorice and Sally Hansen's Celeb City.

Stripes

Wanted to do some stripes using a little glitter/shimmer polish and came up with this combo. I am thinking this would be really pretty with green and red glitter polishes for Christmas, so you may just see that coming up in the next couple of weeks.
Polishes: Barelements in Grey, Avon in French White Tip and Kozmic Colours (no name).

Glitter On Metal

I wanted something festive, wintery but not too Christmasy yet, so I tried this. I was also in the mood for a pale blue on my nails. lol
I used Avon's Brushed Metals in Platinum and added some Purple Glitter from Nail Treats.

Pretty Fail

I wanted to wear something pretty on my nails, so I thought I would try this. Not really pretty at all. :-(
It was easy, which was also something I wanted, so at least that worked. lol
Polished used were Pastel Pink topped off with Mosaic Mica both by Avon.

1 Year!

I can't believe it, but I stared this blog ONE YEAR ago today! Thank you everyone who visits! :-D

I thought I would share some things I have learned over this last year, that may be helpful to you, too.

Nail Care:

1. Keep your hands out of water as much as possible, so use rubber gloves for doing dishes.
2. File your nails in one direction only, don't use sawing back and forth. (I'm still working on it.)
3. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!!
4. Don't pull or tear any hang nails, cut them neatly.

Nail Art Tips:

1. Use white glue for your base coat when applying glitter polishes or when you want a very temporary look. (It will peel off with ease, later.)
2. Always use base coat to protect your nails from getting stained.
3. Never shake your top coat up just before using it as it will cause bubbles.
4. You are your own worst critic. Cut yourself some slack, others may find your work amazing.

Photography Tips:

1. Use a macro setting on your camera to get those nails in focus.
2. Try your best to use sunlight for the best colour quality.
3. Your thumb will learn to bend that way for the photos. haha

Well, that's all I can think of off the top of my head. Thanks again for taking the time to check out my blog!

Eddie Izzard Force Majeure Nails

I am going to see Eddie Izzard perform this evening, so I did my nails special for the occasion. ;-)
Yes, my nails are very short, they of course have been splitting and chipping lately, so I cut them all off to make them as even in length as possible. I don't care for odd length nails. I don't think they look very nice when they all different lengths.
This promotional picture is the inspiration for my nail art.
I used Sally Hansen's Mellow Yellow and Avon's Shock. I found Shock to be very thin almost watery in application and it dried with a waxy look to it. I had to apply top coat to get the colour shiny.

Hint of Gold

This is a simple look using one strip of striping tape down the centre of each nail. I thought the vertical stripe might give the illusion that my nails are longer than they are. heehee I did these colours to match the outfit I will be wearing to the Symphony tomorrow night.

The colours of polish I used for this were Golden Vision, Garden Green and Vintage Boutique by Avon.

Christmas Craft with Glitter Polish

I have a little mini Christmas Tree and have a hard time finding ornaments for it, so I decided to make my own. I went out and found some tiny pinecones and then painted them with glitter nail polish for a cute Christmas look. They look so much better in person than in this photo.
I used Model's Own Emerald City and Avon's Sparkling Red polishes to make these. I like how they turned out so much, I'm going to go hunt down some more cones and do some silver and gold glitter ones, too!

Movember

I did mustache nails to support Men's Health and the Movember campaign. I wanted to do something fun with these so I chose different styles of mustaches and threw in some famous ones, too.
I used flocking powder on most of them, but not the brown ones, as I don't have that colour of flocking powder yet. I like the fuzzy appearance to the mustaches. :-)
So, can you guess who some of the mustaches belong to? ;-)
The basic colour was Avon's Vintage Blue. The mustaches were done with Sally Hansen's Mellow Yellow, Avon's French White Tip, Licorice, Art Orange and Vintage Boutique. Flocking powder from Cheeky was used for four of the 'stache colours.

First Craft Sale

This is the only photo that was in focus of my display. It was a good learning experience and I would like to do some more if the chance comes along. I sold a few items and earned enough to cover the cost of the table, so that was good. I spent more money than I earned at the other booths there. Getting a start on my Christmas shopping! :-)

It was a fun day and I'd like to thank all the people that checked out my stuff. I want to send a thank you out to Jeanette who made it all possible.

Mystic Wine Gradient

I did this look for the weekly challenge in the Nail Polish Queens community on Google+ ( a link for them: https://plus.google.com/u/0/communities/113444480645512901604 ). We were asked to come up with something sexy. lol
The polishes I used for this gradient were Golden Wine and Mystic by Avon.
I added a little bindi gem for an accent nail, too.

Candy Canes

Today I have a few candy cane decals done for Saturday.
A set of green and white canes.
Red and white candy canes.
I stuck to traditional colours for the candy canes, I'm not so into the blue or orange ones, that sort of thing. lol

Gingerbread Men Transfers

More decals for the craft sale taking place this weekend. I must say I have been having fun making them.
It's nice to do something a little different then painting my own nails or false nails. I like that these can be worn by anybody.

Just in time for Halloween, no I'm kidding, I need to make stuff for the craft sale I am going to be doing on November 2nd and it's a Christmas themed craft sale, so I'm doing these early.
I've done more than this, but these are a good sample if you are looking for Christmas ideas already.

Falling Dots

Well, I woke up at 4:30am and couldn't get back to sleep, so I did my nails. lol

I wanted to something in fall colours and thought this would be a cute idea. It is sort of like falling leaves, but I used dots instead.
The colours of polish I used for this were Avon's Barefoot Beige, Vintage Boutique, Tweed, Coral Beat and Green Goddess as well as China Glaze's Solar Power.
