Lily of the Valley

I have so many nail art ideas I want to try and this has been one of them. I know where I live it will be a few months before the leaves start to grow and the flowers start to bloom, but I can still paint it on my nails.
I did a sponge gradient to represent spring and then painted the lily of the valley plants and bell flowers over top.
The sponge gradient was done using Avon's Sweet Mint and Vintage Blue. The lily of the valley plants were made with Avon's Garden Green and French White Tip.

Copper Jubilee

I was watching the first part of "Going Postal" and of course I noticed the nail polish that the woman from the Golem shop was wearing. It was a deep red with what appeared to be a copper glitter to it. I thought it was gorgeous, and having gotten a copper glitter recently (I'm surprised I didn't have one already), I had to give it a try!
The red polish just seemed to seep into my skin, and no amount of scrubbing during clean up was able to remove it all. My clean up doesn't look the best. Please accept my apologies. The sunlight was very yellow this morning, so I hope you can tell the glitter is copper in colour and not gold.

The polishes I used were Avon's Cherry Jubilee with Showstopper Copper over top.

Metallic on Matte

Well, let me apologize for the mess my cuticles are in and that I wasn't able to do the best clean up job. I have such trouble cleaning up dark polishes. Sorry about that.

So I tried to do a metallic polish on matte base for today's design. Seriously, it was not my intention to end up with a design that looked like battling sperm. Sorry about that. lol

Ah, the thumb nail turned out the best out of all my nails, in my opinion. What was interesting is I used one of the suede nail polishes from a collection from Avon, for the base colour and it usually turns out to be fairly matte when it dries anyway. Today however, I wanted to try my new matte top coat out, so I used it over the suede polish. What is interesting is that this particular colour of the suede polish has a silvery finish to it normally, but with the matte top coat over it, the silvery look turned red which adds a gorgeous depth and more darkness to the polish.

Nail polishes used for today's design are Avon's Soft Violet, Sally Hansen's Celeb City and Avon's Lucky Penny. The matte top coat (not pictured) is from O.P.I..

Smoosh Attack Style

Well, this week's NPQ challenge is to do a new nail art style called Smoosh Attack. It is usually done with stampers, but I don't stamp, so I used tin foil and plastic food wrap.

Basically, you chose the colours you wish to work with and a base colour to make it stand out nicely first. I choose white for the base colour and selected peach, dark purple and medium green for my smoosh colours. Then I started out like I would for a gradient design, by placing a drop of polish of each colour onto the tin foil. Next, I took the plastic wrap and pressed it down flat onto the polishes so they blended ever so slightly. I then pressed this and smooshed slightly onto my nails.

I let them all dry, then did clean up, because this style is very messy. Added top coat and was done. This reminds me of the splatter technique, but it is a little bit different.

Today's polishes are Avon's French White Tip, Revlon's Provoke, Avon's Midnight Plum and Nail Treats' Emerald Green.

This Morning's Dream Nails

Well, you may have noticed that I haven't been exactly inspired for my nail art lately. In fact, I haven't been very motivated to do my nails at all, although I have been buying new polishes. haha --> addict

So, it was a refreshing change to wake up with a nail art dream this morning, and to find I had all the colours of polish to pull it off! The first thing I did was to pull out all the stuff I needed and get to work. It was nice to be inspired and enthusiastic about doing nail art again.

It is a grey and snowy day here today, so not the brightest light for the photos, but they are okay. You may notice my thumb nail peeking up in the background and that it is painted the same as my pointer and pinky. These nails look much better in real life without the benefit of the macro setting on the camera for extreme close ups. In the dream, I think it was more of a plain silver glitter over the black polish, but I wanted something more funky and went with the holographic type glitter.

I know this photo is completely blurry, but I thought the glitter looked fun like this!

The polishes are Avon's Decadence and Licorice. Over the black, I used Sally Hansen's In The Spotlight glitter and some gems from a pack I got from Avon.
